14th Meeting of the Carpathian Convention Implementation Committee
14 - 16 June 2023, Poland
The Secretariat is pleased to inform you that upon a kind invitation of the Polish Presidency of the Carpathian Convention, the 14th meeting of the Carpathian Convention Implementation Committee (CCIC) took place on 14 – 16 June 2023 in Mszana Dolna, Poland.
The Carpathian Convention Implementation Committee acts as a monitoring body, as well as the one in charge of preparing political decisions for the Conference of the Parties. Therefore, in light of the upcoming the 7th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Carpathian Convention (CC COP7), scheduled on 11-13 October 2023 in Belgrade, Serbia, the 14th meeting of the CCIC was of a crucial importance. Planned discussions mainly focused on:
- Reporting on the implementation of the Programme of Work 2021-2023 and inputs from the stakeholders
- Reading of a draft COP7 Decisions and related documents
- Discussing CC COP7 arrangements
Draft COP7 decisions were shared for the first round of consultation in advance of the meeting.
In addition, we held a special session From the Carpathians to the Andes – exchange on regional approaches to sustainable mountain development, as an integral element of the CCIC meeting on 14 June in the late afternoon and was attended by the delegation from the Andean Mountains. This session was kindly requested as a part of a broader programme on interregional mountain governance exchange, where the Carpathians and the Carpathian Convention are presented as one of the model region.
We thank Poland and particularly the Ministry of Climate and Environment for the fantastic organization of the meeting!
