“Sustainable Transportation Planning in the Carpathians. Latest developments and steps forward" - Conference

A two-day event is organized in a form of a conference followed by collaborative workshops aiming at bringing together cross-sectoral perspectives on the current research and policy recommendations in the field.
The event takes place in Bratislava, Slovakia on 5-6 September 2018, under the umbrella of the TRANSGREEN Project “lntegrated Transport and Green Infrastructure Planning in the Danube-Carpathian Region for the Benefit of People and Nature” supported by the Danube Transnational Programme (January 2017 – June 2019). The event is organized by WWF Danube-Carpathian Programme (Lead Partner), the National Motorway Company of Slovakia (Project Partner, Organizer) on behalf of TRANSGREEN, in partnership with the Secretariat of the Carpathian Convention.
The event is addressed to international stakeholders from the fields of transport, spatial planning and nature conservation – planners, implementers, authorities, NGOs – from the local to the international level, in order to foster cross-sectoral cooperation and awareness raising on the topic, structured as follows:
- The conference component features keynote speeches on sustainable transport infrastructure development in the Danube region from different views across the sectors involved and best practice presentåtions from within and outside the Carpathians.
- The interactive component of the event is structured in four workshops assessing the latest findings and results in the field of integrated planning of sustainable transport infrastructure in the Carpathian region.
- The event concludes with defining steps forward towards the development of a Strategic Action Plan on Sustainable Transport in the Carpathians, in the frame of a thorough cross-sectoral discussion on the policy uptake of the latest findings involving all participants together with the Carpathian Convention Working Groups on Biodiversity, Transport and Spatial Development.
