The Czech Presidency of the Carpathian Convention and the Secretariat together with the European Commission, Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy (Competence Centre Macro Regions and European Territorial Cooperation) is organizing the Expert Workshop – Mountain dimension in the Danube region, the case of the Carpathians. Challenges and opportunities for regional cooperation in mountain areas, to be held in Brussels, Belgium on 25. November 2015.
The workshop will focus on discussion about the mountain dimension of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) and, in particular, possible synergies between the relevant Priority Areas of the EUSDR and the Carpathian Convention. All the Carpathian Convention Focal Points and relevant stakeholders has been invited to attend the workshop, together with a wider audience that could be interested in the subject.
One of the desired outcome of the meeting is a Joint Synergy Paper and a Memorandum of Understanding between relevant Priority Areas of the EUSDR and Carpathian Convention, which aim at enhancing synergies between processes and mandate the EUSDR and the Carpathian Convention to the benefit of the Region, and at ensuring the further strengthening of the ongoing Danube – Carpathian collaboration.
